Retro Black was started in 2020 by William and Leah Thompson, two native Detroiters who turned pandemic downtime into something built to last.

Entrepreneurship was always in the picture. Pair that with Leah's love of fashion and a shared belief in the empowerment of the Black community, and a brand built on Black excellence was a no-brainer.

Black culture has driven the trends of the past and the present, through music, fashion, language, and lifestyle. Retro Black exists to celebrate that and to put it on people who move with purpose.
